Who's in the Criminal cast? From Kit Harington to Sharon Horgan

The unique Netflix crime series Criminal is back for a second run, with detectives looking to crack yet more cases in the claustrophobic interrogation suite.

Unlike other detective dramas, which tend to involve high-octane action to catch their perp, Criminal has a more low-key approach – seeing our characters teasing out details from their suspects until tension reaches fever-pitch.

The first season of Criminal saw David Tennant, Youssef Kerkour and Hayley Atwell each guest star in their own episodes, with some of the cream of British talent turning the spotlight on them.

Who's in the Criminal cast?

The detectives

Katherine Kelly

Katherine Kelly plays the stern head of the team(Dave Benett)

The former Coronation Street star plays the no-nonsense Natalie, who heads up the police squad.

Viewers will recognise Kelly from her roles in ITV drama Cheat, as well as Gentleman Jack and Liar.

Lee Ingleby

Ingleby plays the intelligent Tony (ITV)

The actor stars as Tony, a top interrogator who holds a candle for Natalie.

Ingleby has previously starred in Line of Duty, Luther and Innocent.

Nicholas Pinnock

Pinnock stars as senior police officer Paul, and has previously starred in Marcella and Top Boy.

Rochenda Sandall

The actor was applauded for her role in Line of Duty (Rankin/BAFTA/PA Wire)

Sandall plays tough police office Vanessa.

Viewers will recognise her for her role as Lisa McQueen in the most recent series of Line of Duty, but has also starred in Coronation Street.

Shubham Saraf

Playing Petit, you may recognise Saraf from his roles in Fresh Meat and Bodyguard.

The suspects

Kit Harington

In his first major TV role since Game of Thrones, Kit Harington will be putting Jon Snow aside when he is under police questioning.

Harington has also starred in films How to Train Your Dragon and Pompeii.

Sophie Okonedo

The Oscar-nominated star features in season 2 of Criminal (Getty Images)

The prominent British actor, who was an awarded with a CBE due to her services to drama last year, has had many hit roles. Some of her most famous work includes The Secret Life of Bees, The Hollow Crown and the Oscar-nominated Hotel Rwanda.

Kunal Nayyar

Viewers will know Kunal Nayyar best for his role as the bumbling Raj in The Big Bang Theory, though his brooding personality in Criminal is likely to show a different side to the star.

Sharon Horgan

Sharon Horgan's latest role is darker than her previous ones (Charles Sykes/Invision/AP)

The Bafta-winning comedian is best known for her sitcoms Pulling and Catastrophe, as well as US comedy series Divorce.
