Who replaces Saint-Maximin? The changes Newcastle fans would like to see against Manchester City

Newcastle United fans would like to see Valentino Lazaro start for the daunting trip to Manchester City.

The Magpies arrive at the Etihad Stadium on the back of a six-match unbeaten run in the Premier League, coming from behind twice to earn a draw with West Ham in their last outing.

However, United were outclassed in their recent FA Cup quarter-final defeat to City at St James' Park, and Steve Bruce faces a selection headache with a number of players considered injury doubts.

Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff have both been ruled out with hamstring injuries, while Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin are considered doubts. Andy Carroll has picked up a strain and is also considered a doubt, while captain Jamaal Lascelles was also deemed a possible absentee before Sunday's clash with the Hammers.

Bruce opted for a back five for the FA Cup quarter-final defeat, and admits he may have to consider a similar selection in the face of City side who have been free-scoring at home.

However, supporters would like to see the Magpies take the bold approach of playing 4-4-2 at the home of the deposed Premier League champions.

Martin Dubravka unsurprisingly retains his position in goal, as do Lascelles and Federico Fernandez at the heart of defence.

Fans would like to see Javi Manquillo switched back to his favoured right side at the expense of Emil Krafth, with Danny Rose earning a recall on the left side of defence.

Nabil Bentaleb partners Jonjo Shelvey in midfield, with Lazaro and Matt Ritchie tasked with providing the width and replacing Almiron and Saint-Maximin.

Up front, supporters would like to see Dwight Gayle - who has netted twice since the restart - partnered with fellow former number nine Carroll.
