Who reads blogs anyway?

Is it a case of the blog will eat itself to pose this question? Differing answers are currently bounding around cyberspace.

According to USA Today, young people turn first to the web for their news.

"Though this may not come as news to anyone under 35, the results have profound ramifications for mainstream media outlets, which need to integrate an online presence as quickly as possible or risk alienating the next generation of news consumers," argues the piece based on a study by John Horrigan, for the Pew Internet and American Life Project.

Meanwhile Jeff Jarvis is exercised by a piece in the American Journalism Review, which reveals that New York Times executive editor Bill Keller has stopped reading media blogs.

So who is reading this? Is anybody out there?
