
The World Health Organization (WHO) has placed Egypt at the lower level in terms of the risk of the coronavirus pandemic spread, Health Minister Hala Zayed said.
During a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Zayed reviewed the latest government efforts to combat the virus and boost the vaccination campaign.
She also affirmed that Egypt received 500,000 jabs of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine last week, noting that another 1 million doses will be available by the end of next week.
According to Zayed, 00,000 vaccine doses will be provided to Egypt through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX), in addition to 250,000 AstraZeneca doses.
Also, a shipment of 2,000 liters out of 5,000 liters of raw materials for the local manufacturing of vaccines will arrive in Egypt by July.
Egypt reported 108 new coronavirus cases and nine deaths on Tuesday, compared to 110 cases and seven deaths on Monday. The Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed noted that the death toll reached 16,412, while the total number of confirmed cases had reached 283,320.
