Who left Strictly Come Dancing tonight and who is in the final?

The Glitterball is now firmly in sight for the remaining stars on Strictly Come Dancing.

After weeks of rehearsals and practising, three celebrities - along with their professional dance partners - are through to the competition's final.

Saturday's show saw each of the four pairs perform two dances on the show, hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, for the first time this series.

After being joint top of the leaderboard in the previous week, CBBC host Rhys and pro partner Nancy Xu performed a samba to It Had Better Be Tonight (Meglio Stasera) performed by Michael Buble, before dancing a tango to Queen’s One Vision.

EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice, who joined Rhys and Nancy at the top with a score of 39 last Saturday, danced an an Argentine tango to A Evaristo Carriego by Eduardo Rovira, as well as a waltz to How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding.

John Whaite and Johannes Radebe danced a jive to Higher Power by Coldplay, and a couple's choice routine to Adele's Hometown Glory.

AJ Odudu and her partner Kai Widdrington faced a rumba, often the most challenging dance for contestants, to Show Me Heaven by Maria McKee.

The duo also performed a quickstep to Sing, Sing, Sing by Benny Goodman.

Who was voted off Strictly Come Dancing this week?

Sharing top spot on the leaderboard were Rose Ayling-Ellis and AJ Odudu who both scored a near perfect 79 out of 80 possible points for their two dances.

Next was John Whaite and his pro partner Johannes Radebe with 39 points for each of their two dances.

At the bottom of the scoreboard were Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu who scored 36 points for their Tango and 38 for their Samba, for a total of 74.

As ever, the judge's scores only make up one half of the result.

The public vote saw John and Johannes, and Rhys and Nancy in the dance-off.

Craig, Motsi and Anton chose to put John and Johannes through to the final, meaning Shirley did not need to cast a vote - and that Rhys and Nancy leave the show.

Who is in the final?

Taking part in the Strictly Come Dancing Final next week (Saturday, December 18) will be:

  • John Whaite and Johannes Radebe
  • AJ Odudu and her partner Kai Widdrington
  • Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice
