Who left Great British Bake Off last night? Second contestant leaves competition

The remaining Great British Bake Off contestants were tasked with three brand new challenges on Tuesday night as they took to the tent to take part in 'biscuit week'. The reality series has returned to Welford Park this series after two years of filming at Down Hall in Essex.

As the second episode of the popular baking competition got underway, the eleven home bakers were tasked with making 12 macarons, Garibaldi biscuits and in the showstopper, a 3D mask from biscuits. This week, 29-year-old Swedish-born architectural assistant Maxy bagged the title of 'Star Baker' after receiving a coveted 'Hollywood handshake' for her signature bake and impressing judges Paul and Prue with her biscuit mask.

“I didn’t think I’d get on to the show," she said afterwards, "let alone get a handshake and become star baker. so I’m really happy. It’s definitely given me a confidence boost.” But who was the second contestant to leave the tent? Here are all the details:

Who left Great British Bake Off last night?

Student and sales assistant Maisam became the second baker to be eliminated from the competition on Tuesday (September 20). The 18-year-old from Greater Manchester unfortunately failed to impress the judges with her carrot-shaped macarons and her Venetian mask.

In a letter shared on Twitter, Libyan-born Maisam said: “Bake Off is simply life-changing and one of the best decisions I have made in my life. It has taught me to become a risk taker and representing my Libyan heritage in the tent is something I am really proud of.

“To go from baking in my own kitchen and into the tent just shows that you shouldn’t underestimate your passions because they can take you places that you’d never imagine.”

"I can now say that I am part of a very exclusive Bake Off family," She added: "And have gained 11 new amazing friends that I will keep for life. This is the very start of my baking journey and I am excited to see what comes next."

The Great British Bake Off continues on Channel 4 each Tuesday from 8pm on Channel 4. You can stream the episodes so far over on All 4.
