Wayne Hayes returned to the cobbles last night, after 18 years away from Weatherfield.
And if soap fans are wondering why they already know the character, it is because he first appeared in Coronation Street almost two decades ago as the foster child of Roy and Haley Cropper.
The lovable couple supported little Wayne after they found out his mum's boyfriend had been abusing him.
Then, just a child, he was played by Gary Damer who would then go on to appear in shows like Fresh Meat and Staff Room after he left Corrie in 2001.
But now the character is back, and this time played by theatre actor Adam Barlow, 32.
All grown up, Wayne is now a health and safety inspector and looks set to make a number of reappearances on the show as the investigation into the factory collapse gets underway.
During his meeting with Roy, Wayne tells him how it was a 'revelation' staying with Roy and Hayley all those years ago, saying: "You gave me hope. When I lived here I had this glimpse of another life. You were kind, hard-working, decent and you made me see that I could make a life for myself too."

He is then given the devastating news that Hayley had died years ago, saying if he'd have known he would have come to see her.
But will Wayne's relationship with Roy interfere with his investigation into Carla and the Underworld collapse that cost Rana her life?
