Who is VALORANT Agent 29? Everything we know so far

Riot Games deploys a plethora of changes regularly to keep VALORANT fresh, but the meta shifts most dramatically when a new agent is introduced. If you’re wondering who the next VALORANT agent is and whether they fit your choice of role, you’ve come to the right place for answers.

The upcoming VALORANT agent will technically be its 28th playable character. However, you’ll know them as Agent 29 due to the “missing Agent 8” mystery in Protocol’s records, which pushes the numbering system. While Riot is yet to officially reveal this agent, we already have a fair share of teasers and leaks to speculate about.

Here’s everything about VALORANT Agent 29 we know so far.

VALORANT Agent 29 release date

Agent 29 is expected to join VALORANT when Act Six of Season V25 launches on Oct. 15.

We’ve estimated this release window based on Riot’s usual trend to introduce three new agents in a year. Season V25 has already brought two—Waylay and Tejo—fairly early on into the year. That makes Act Six, the final competitive Act of 2025, the most likely stage for Agent 29’s debut.

With VALORANT Champions Paris underway, there’s a strong chance Riot could reveal Agent 29 during the grand finals event, which is scheduled on Oct. 5. Also, since patch 11.00, several dossiers found on Corrode have revealed that ATLAS, Omega Earth’s defensive unit, is planning to deploy a “Megaspike” in Paris during the FLX World Tour (gig of Phoenix’s sister), so everything just fits.

VALORANT Agent 29 name, origin, and role

According to rumors, VALORANT’s next agent is codenamed “Morph.” Their role and real name are yet to be disclosed.

Back at VCT Masters Toronto in June, a visiting fan shared a picture on X of what seemed to be a teaser poster from the event, potentially revealing the silhouette and coordinates of the agent arriving after Waylay. The coordinates point to Senegal, a country in West Africa, so this agent is likely of Senegalese origin.

Inspecting the silhouette, it seems to match the build of a male agent and looks oddly similar to Harbor. They’re also shown wielding a sharp circular gadget, which gives off a “chakra” vibe. It could be a throwing weapon, or an unique magical gadget that grants them their powers (like Harbor’s artifact).

Besides this, Riot has also released a player card to tease Agent 29 in the Act Five’s batte pass. Named “Unstoppable,” this player card features a unique symbol that likely depicts the agent’s signature ability. You can obtain it at Level 50 as a free chapter reward.

Regarding their role, the three most recent agents were a duelist, initiator, and sentinel. And it’s been over a year since a new controller agent was introduced (Clove in Episode Eight, Act Two). So, it’s likely Agent 29 will be a controller—but I could be wrong since Riot has introduced agents of the same class consecutively before.

According to the lore bits we’ve received via Practice Range emails, Tejo—with Brimstone’s permission—has hired “an outsider” to act as an informant as well as bodyguard to Phoenix’s sister, Mary, during her FLX World Tour event in Paris. This “outsider” is likely our new VALORANT agent. Other than the fact that they’re likely a support agent and carry a lot of experience, these lore bits don’t really reveal much about his abilities.

Potential abilities of VALORANT Agent 29

A VALORANT agent’s codename is usually a reflection of their abilities. From Agent 29’s codename, I’d expect a character who can morph into a different appearance, potentially similar to Astra.

With patch 11.06, Riot has deployed a major Agent 29 teaser in VALORANT. If you’ve noticed a different kind of voiceover—a male voice replacing the usual female announcer—during your usual matches, that’s most likely our new agent speaking. The general consensus is that they’ve hacked into Protocol’s systems for reasons still unknown. But this serves as yet another hint at their morphing specialty.

I’m just theorizing right now, but this agent might have the power to transform his own abilities, or even better, enemy abilities. They’ll likely have a manipulative set of abilities that’ll let you confuse your enemies. And I can’t help but wonder: given the teaser, what if they could alter ultimate voiceovers for the enemy team to confuse them? That’d be a really cool trick to see in a VALORANT agent, although it won’t be very useful.

We’ll update this story as and when Riot reveals new information about the next agent in VALORANT.
