One of the best and most entertaining golfers in the world, Tyrrell Hatton has won 13 times as a professional and lifted the Ryder Cup twice.
Since turning professional in 2011, Hatton has only employed a handful of different caddies - moving from Chris Rice to childhood friend, Jonathan Bell in the summer of 2017 and then on to Scotsman, Mark Crane the following year.
Hatton explained that he and Rice parted ways so soon after beginning their working relationship as it was putting too much of a strain on their friendship. Replacement looper, Crane arrived on the scene just in time for the 2018 US Open at Shinnecock Hills - at which they finished T6th.
The bagman known as 'Punk' had partnered up with Paul Casey, Chris Wood and David Horsey previously but enjoyed one of his greatest weeks with Hatton when Team Europe won the 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National.
But by the time of Hatton's Arnold Palmer Invitational success in 2020, the Englishman had switched Crane for another Scotsman, Mick Donaghy.
Donaghy actually joined up with Hatton in 2019 and helped guide the Ryder Cup star to multiple professional wins and a career-high of fifth in the world over the next few years.
A looper with over three decades of experience, he had partnered up with the likes of Jesper Parnevik - with whom he almost won the 1994 Open Championship - and Jamie Donaldson previously and was once briefly swapped out for Brian 'Bo' Martin due to an injury at the 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
However, it appears as though Hatton and Donaghy went their separate ways permanently via a twist of fate early in 2024. Donaghy missed out of accompanying Hatton at The Masters due to a fall. The LIV Golf star explained what he knew about the incident before the League's Miami event.
"My caddie fell over last night after dinner," explained Hatton. "Now, his reputation is an interesting one, so I don't know how the fall really occurred, but either way, he landed pretty heavy on his shoulder. He spent the afternoon in hospital. He's had an X-ray. He won't be caddying for the next month."
That left Hatton turning to someone he knows well to caddie for him at The Masters, his friend Hugo Dobson, who was a professional on the PGA EuroPro Tour. It's not the first time Dobson has stepped in for Hatton at Augusta National, either. He also caddied for the former World No.5 at the 2019 tournament.
After Hobson deputized for Donaghy at the subsequent stretch of LIV events, he and Hatton have continued working together ever since. And it's fair to say that it has gone quite well.
Hatton claimed his maiden LIV Golf title in Nashville in June before landing a third Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October 2024. A few weeks into the 2025 campaign, he and Dobson triumphed at the Dubai Desert Classic.
Explaining more about the pair's relationship, Hatton shared that Dobson is a former professional golfer who has known him since the age of 14.
Hatton said: "We’ve grown up through our last years of junior golf together. First few years of men’s golf as well, then turning pro at a similar time.
"He knows what I’m like on and off the golf course. Since he came in last second at the Masters and started caddying we’ve done really well together. It’s been fun having one of your best mates on the bag and travelling around the world.”
Hatton says Dobson "turns deaf for a minute or two" whenever the Englishman loses his temper on the course as the looper knows there is no reasoning with Hatton. The Legion XIII player said: "He’s known me for a long time. He knows when to stay away from me or act like he can’t hear anything!”
