- When Donald Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi Thursday afternoon, the president announced that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will be stepping into the role in the interim.
- Bondi was fired after a tumultuous 14 months, following bipartisan outrage over her handling of Jeffrey Epstein investigations and the release of related files.
- Blanche, who is Trump’s former criminal defense attorney, represented the president in three of the criminal cases brought against him in 2023 and 2024.
- He has been married for nearly 30 years to his wife, Kristine. The couple shares two children and are also grandparents.
- “Pam Bondi led this Department with strength and conviction and I’m grateful for her leadership and friendship,” Blanche said in a statement. “Thank you to President Trump for the trust and the opportunity to serve as Acting Attorney General,” he said. “We will continue backing the blue, enforcing the law, and doing everything in our power to keep America safe.”
