Danny Makkelie will take charge of England's Euro 2020 semi-final against Denmark at Wembley on Wednesday evening.
The 38-year-old is from the Netherlands and has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2011 but this is his first senior major international tournament and the biggest night of his career so far.
England v Denmark is the fourth game he has been assigned to during Euro 2020, which included England's 2-0 win over Germany in the round of 16 at Wembley, in which he showed yellow cards to Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips and Harry Maguire.

Makkelie was also chosen for the opening game between Turkey and Italy, and Russia's 1-0 win over Finland in Group B. He has booked 12 players so far but is yet to send anyone off.
His most high-profile game before the Euros was the 2020 Europa League final between Sevilla and Inter Milan, during which he showed six yellow cards - including one to the Italian side's manager Antonio Conte.
Makkelie was also the man in the middle for the first leg of Chelsea's Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid this year, booking six players - with five of them going to the Spanish giants in a game which finished 1-1 at the Bernabeu.
In eight Champions League games last season, he showed 43 yellows in total, plus one red card to Juventus' Merih Demiral in their 2-0 defeat at home to Barcelona.
Makkelie sent two players off in the most recent meeting between arch-rivals Feyenoord and Ajax in Eredivisie in May.
He has been a video assistant referee in some high-profile games, such as the 2018 World Cup final between France and Croatia, the all-English 2019 Champions League final between Tottenham and Liverpool and 2016 FIFA Club World Cup final between Real Madrid and Kashima Antlers.
Makkelie has been refereeing in Europa League games since 2011 and made his Champions League debut a year later, while he was the referee of the 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Championship final between Spain and Greece.
Away from football, he also works as a police inspector in Rotterdam, Holland.
