Who is Suraj Nambiar: Everything to know about Mouni Roy’s husband amid divorce rumors and unfollowing drama

Rumours of trouble in the marriage of actor Mouni Roy and her husband Suraj Nambiar have surfaced after reports claimed that the actress unfollowed him on social media. While neither Mouni nor Suraj has addressed the speculation, online discussions intensified after netizens noticed the change and began interpreting it as a possible sign of strain in their relationship.

Further adding to the speculation, reports also suggest that Mouni Roy’s close friend, actor Disha Patani, has unfollowed Suraj Nambiar on Instagram. However, it could not be independently verified whether she had followed him earlier or not. Mouni has not posted new pictures with her husband recently, although she has not deleted their wedding photos from her social media accounts.

Who is Suraj Nambiar

Suraj Nambiar is a businessman and investment banker who is not associated with the entertainment industry. Born in Bengaluru, he was based in Dubai for work before marrying Mouni Roy. Reports indicate that he studied Financial and Managerial Accounting at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also said to have taken over his father’s business in Dubai after completing his education.

Business ventures with Mouni Roy

In February 2022, Suraj Nambiar and Mouni Roy jointly launched Ultimate Gurus, a global ed-tech platform. Later in 2023, the couple expanded into the hospitality sector by opening the high-end restaurant Badmaash in Mumbai.

Love story and wedding

Mouni Roy, who was earlier linked to filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, kept her relationship with Suraj Nambiar private. Reports suggest the two met through mutual friends during New Year celebrations in Dubai in 2019. After dating for two years, Mouni met Suraj’s parents at Mandira Bedi’s residence.

The couple got married in January 2022 in Goa, with ceremonies conducted as per Bengali and Malayali traditions. The wedding events were attended by close friends and family members.

Mouni Roy’s upcoming projects

On the professional front, Mouni Roy will appear in David Dhawan’s upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, alongside Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. The romantic comedy is scheduled for theatrical release on June 5, and she reportedly plays a key role, with portions filmed in the United Kingdom.

She is also expected to return in Brahmastra Part Two, which is yet to go on floors, and is currently part of Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film The Wives. The project has completed shooting and is in post-production. The ensemble cast includes Sonali Kulkarni, Regina Cassandra, Rahul Bhatt, Saurabh Sachdeva, Arjan Bajwa and Freddy Daruwala.
