Who is supporting The Killers at Cardiff Castle? Everything you need to know about Yola

The Killers are performing their Glastonbury warm-up gig at Cardiff Castle this summer and the support act for the show has finally been announced.

Singer/songwriter Yola will be the opening act for the Las Vegas band and bills herself as the Queen of Country Soul on her Instagram.

The sold-out gig is at Cardiff Castle on Friday, June 28.

Brought up in Portishead, Yola - whose album Walk Through Fire was released in February this year - has done backing vocals for Katy Perry, Will Young, Chase & Status and has working with Massive Attack.

It has only been in the past couple of years that Yola has recorded her own music, in the style she wants to, that is country and bluegrass and, of course, soul.

Her single It Ain't Easy was a favourite of model Kendall Jenner and her debut album was produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys and featured contributions from country and bluegrass icons including Vince Gill, Stuart Duncan and Ronnie McCoury.

She has previously worked with prolific songwriter and Geordie rocker Ginger Wildheart, singing on a track called Petit Mort, and was also the lead singer for country soul band Phantom Limb.

You'll have also seen Yola perform on Jools Holland's Hootenany this past new year and she's a regular on the Radio 2 playlist.

If you're after cool, kick-back tunes and lush, silky vocals, Yola is the perfect act for a sunny, summer evening gig.
