Who is Regan Gascoigne – and why has he signed up to Dancing On Ice?

It has been announced that Regan Gascoigne is the latest celeb to join the 2022 Dancing On Ice cast.

The 25 year old dancer is the youngest of Paul Gascoigne's children and isn't the first of them to appear on a reality TV show.

Regan took to his Instagram page to inform his 6.9k followers of the news.

He posted a picture of himself in front of the Dancing On Ice backdrop and captioned the post: "The Universe moves in mysterious ways! I love watching @dancingonice every year! I just never thought this would actually happen to me.

"I’m nervous, scared but mostly excited all at the same time. Hopefully I can stay on my feet."

Regan's older sister Bianca Gascoigne, 34 announced a few days ago that she would be appearing on Dancing with the Stars in Italy.

She also took part in 2017's Celebrity Big Brother.

Regan's dad Paul has also just returned from the Italian version of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

Why has Regan Gascoigne signed up to Dancing On Ice?

The Sun reported that a TV insider said: "Regan hasn't just been signed up because of his family name or the fact that quite a few of his relatives have already been on reality TV contests.

The star's family members have also appeared on other TV shows (Regan Gascoigne / Twitter)

"He's a dancer too, and this shows how the ITV show is taking the dance choreography side of the show much more seriously, rather than it being about being able to master skating.

"And that's reflected in the fact that the contests' producers are now in advanced talks with Arlene Phillips about being on the Dancing on Ice judging panel."

Last year Regan appeared on ITV daytime show Lorraine where he came out as bisexual and his dad said he was 'very proud' of his son.

The footballer said: “He texted me the night before and I saw him on the TV talking about it.

It's not yet known when the 2022 series of Dancing On Ice will air (ITV)

"I told him: ‘It doesn’t matter what you do son, I will support you 100 percent, you have to do what makes you happy’.

"He is a professional dancer, he is a fit guy, and I am very proud of him."

An exact date for the fourteenth series of Dancing On Ice hasn't yet been announced but it is thought to be early 2022.

Other celeb contestants have been announced including Corrie's Sally Dynevor, Love Island's Liberty Pool and Happy Mondays' Bez.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will also be returning as the show's hosts.
