Who is OJ Simpson and what happened to him after the trial that got the world talking?

On Wednesday night’s I'm A Celebrity, Caitlyn Jenner’s camp mates and millions of viewers will see her open up about the OJ Simpson trial.

One of the most famous trials ever gripped the whole of the world back in and I'm A Celebrity star Caitlyn, had a direct link to the trial, given that her then wife Kris Jenner’s ex-husband Rob Kardashian, was Simpson’s defense attorney.

The trial drama started when, after being identified as a person of interest, he did not turn himself in, and on June 17 he became the object of a low-speed pursuit in a white 1993 Ford Bronco SUV owned and driven by his friend Al Cowlings.

TV stations even interrupted coverage of the NBA finals to broadcast the incident and the pusuit was watched live by an estimated 95 million people.

Who is OJ Simpson?

OJ Simpson was a celebrated American footballer before he hit headlines all over the globe when he was charged and tried with the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman.

In sensational courtroom scenes famously featuring an ill-fitting glove, Simpson was acquitted but was later found responsible for both deaths in a civil trial.

The trial inspired award winning true crime drama The People vs OJ Simpson.

Simpson is now 72-years-old and ended up serving close to ten years in prison after being convicted of charges of kidnapping, assault, robbery and criminal conspiracy in 2008.

He was released from prison in 2017.
