Nottingham is to host a competition to find the best burlesque performer, not just in the city but from across the East Midlands.
The annual event is now in its seventh year and will see 12 performers competing for the title of Miss East Midlands Burlesque 2019.
Hosting the event, as well sitting on the judging panel and performing a routine to show how it's done, will be Amber Topaz, current holder of the Miss Burlesque UK title. She is among 30 artists to compete for the European crown in Zurich in February.
Joining her on the judging panel is Anna Fur Laxis, originally from Yorkshire and now living in Nottingham. She recently returned from a long residency in Shanghai, which follows performances in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Milan, Rome, Brussels, Turin, Zurich, Barcelona, Paris, and Tokyo. She will also perform on the night.
The third judge is international burlesque photographer and promotor Neil Kendall.
The audience will also be able to cast their votes using tokens. A free one will be given out at the door but more can be purchased with all cash from sales going to a charity that will be chosen out of a hat from audience suggested organisations.
The event is at Alea Casino in Upper Parliament Street on Saturday, November 9, starting at 8pm.
