Who is Nottingham Forest 'target' Sada Thioub?

Nottingham Forest are rumoured to be interested in making a summer swoop for Senegalese forward Sada Thioub.

According to reports in France, Thioub has caught the eye of City Ground scouts.

Understood to have been on their radar since January, if reports are to be believed, then the striker could become Martin O'Neill's first summer signing and provide a big hint for the type of team he is looking to put together.

Here is all you need to know about the man linked with a move to the Reds.

Nottingham Forest hope key man Joe Lolley will remain injury free next season

Four clubs in two years

Born in Paris, Thioub started his playing career with Caen as a member of the same academy that produced N'Golo Kante, Thomas Lemar, Raphael Guerreiro and William Gallas.

His impressive youth performances earned him a move to the south coast with Nice where he would make his debut, but the four-time French champions were left unimpressed with his development and after two appearances for the first team decided not to offer him a professional contract.

He was then picked up by Guingamp who sent him immediately on a season-long loan with lower league side, Bastia.

The 23-year-old scored six in 31 games in the French third division, earning him a permanent move to Ligue 2 with Nimes.

So far this season the striker, who is often deployed out wide, has scored three goals in 36 appearances.

Style of play

Thioub is known in France as a direct and powerful forward who, when he isn't starting out-wide for Nimes, is a battering ram in attack.

His strike rate has been less than impressive across his career, but he has demonstrated at times his sharp finishing and his ability to twist and turn from wide areas into shooting positions.

Should reports linking the forward with a City Ground move be true, then it is unclear whether O'Neill would see him as a winger or a striker and could opt to use him on the left of midfield.

At 23, Thioub is still young and has plenty of development left in his career.
