Who is Myles Stephenson? All you need to know about the I'm A Celebrity 2019 contestant

The countdown to I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! is officially on and the stars have touched down in Australia ahead of their trip to the jungle.

Caitlyn Jenner, Ian Wright and Nadine Coyle are among the big names to have already landed in Brisbane, as they gear themselves up for Sunday’s launch.

Also among them is 28-year-old Myles Stephenson who rose to fame via a different ITV reality series – X Factor.

The singer has admitted he’ll miss his mum while he’s away, has a fear of daddy longlegs and has “doesn’t know what to expect" from the jungle?

But what can viewers expect from the self-styled “cheeky” boy band star?

Here’s everything we know about Stephenson so far...

He first hit our screens by wowing the X Factor judges, despite a shaky start...

Boyband Rak-Su, featuring Stephenson and friends Ashley Fongho, Jamaal Shurland and Mustafa Rahimtulla, appeared before the X Factor judges in episode 1 of the show’s 2017 series.

They selected Justin Timberlake’s Senorita as their audition piece, but Simon Cowell was unimpressed, telling them to pick something else.

Diving straight into a performance of one of their own songs, I’m Feeling You, the boys earned a standing ovation from onlookers and applause from all four judges.

They were then sent straight through to the live shows, where they were mentored by Cowell.

The four-piece went on to beat Grace Davies in the live final to win the show, becoming the first boy band to do so.

Rak-Su have had some success since X Factor but their future looks far from certain

They're not quite on the same level as their predecessors Little Mix, but Rak-Su’s debut single Dimelo reached number two in the UK singles chart.

Their 2018 hit I Want You To Freak also scraped into the top 40 at number 39.

The band has gone on to release two EPs, titled Rak-Su and Rome, and embarked on their first headline tour earlier this year.

However, Stephenson has hinted he might be willing to leave the group if things go well in the jungle.

Speaking at the I’m a Celebrity launch, Stephenson said his band mates were “really supportive”and “totally understand.”

“I would love to stay in the band but if other opportunities come along my way as well after this, you have to take it by the scruff of the neck,” he explained.

“They would do the same. I would never hold them back.”

Stephenson made headlines after his public break-up with a fellow reality star

Love Island star Gabby Allen, 27, and Stephenson fell head-over-heels in September last year, even moving in together after just a few months of dating.

However, the couple split in August 2019 after Allen allegedly caught her boyfriend messaging other women.

Confirming their break-up in a candid Instagram post, she wrote: “The news paper articles are true. I am no longer in a relationship. I hope yous have all had a better week than me!” [sic]

Putting his past behind him, Stephenson is looking forward to new challenges in the jungle

“Going on I’m A Celebrity is going to be so much harder than doing The X Factor but I am so excited. I have watched it for years and it is something I have always wanted to do," he said in an ITV promo video for the series.

The RnB star also predicted his skill set won’t be particularly useful to his fellow contestants: "We can sing around a campfire if they want to but I don't think it's gonna get us any food so…”.

Despite his widely publicised love life, Stephenson also revealed he wasn't looking to meet anyone new following his recent split.”

He said: “I am single. I have just got out of a relationship but I think I want to be single for a bit and embrace single life!"
