Mollie King and fiancé Stuart Broad have announced that they are expecting their first child later this year. The pair got engaged on New Year’s Day 2021 and plan to marry next year.
Saturdays star Mollie, 35, shared a picture of her small bump to Instagram announcing the news on Wednesday, June 22. The snap features her fiancé Stuart, 35, kneeling down to kiss the baby bump.
Mollie shared the picture with the caption: “Stuart and I are so so happy to share that we’re expecting a baby later this year! We’re absolutely over the moon."
Stuart also took to Instagram to share the news, he wrote: “Mollie & I are thrilled to be expecting a baby at the end of the year! Exciting times ahead!”
Stuart is a high-profile professional cricketer who plays for England's Test team and Nottinghamshire as a fast bowler. The day after the baby announcement he was in action for England, playing against New Zealand at Headingley in Leeds.
His father Chris Broad, 64, is a former England opener and current ICC match referee. His mother was a school teacher.
Stuart was born in Nottingham and grew up in Whissendine, Rutland. He has one sister, Gemma, 37, who previously worked as an analyst for the England cricket team.
Stuart was nominated for the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year prize in 2020, and achieved his 500th Test wicket for England during the summer of 2020. He is England's second leading wicket taker of all time in Test cricket, and sixth in the world.
The cricketer is also co-owner of the Tap & Run pub in Nottinghamshire, which suffered a devastating fire on June 11. A statement on the pub’s website states that it will "not be trading for the foreseeable future".
Mollie and Stuart, who live in a newly-refurbished flat in south London, have been together for around 10 years. Together they share a toy poodle named Alfie.
They reportedly began dating in 2012, and were in an on-off relationship until splitting up in 2018. They are believed to have rekindled the romance in 2019.
