Jeffrey Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein, has weighed in following the release of several emails in which Jeffrey mentioned Donald Trump.
This week, US Democrats released a number of bombshell messages that were exchanged between the disgraced financier, who died in prison in 2019, and acquaintances such as Ghislaine Maxwell and Michael Wolff.
Several of the messages referenced the US president, who has denied knowing about the convicted pedophile’s behaviour and sought to downplay the importance of the elusive Epstein files.
Among the barrage of emails, Epstein even appeared to brand Trump as dangerous, writing in one exchange: “i have met some very bad people ,, none as bad as trump. not one decent cell in his body.. so yes- dangerous.”
In other exchanges, an email sent from Epstein’s account said Trump “knew about the girls.”
Despite efforts by the US administration to dismiss the emails, there continue to be calls for the Epstein files to be released.
In messages exchanged with Newsweek, Epstein’s brother has since suggested that he wouldn’t be “surprised” if more damaging emails were to surface.
However, he also had “no opinion” on comments made by Michael Wolff in the emails.
So who is Epstein’s brother?
Who is Mark Epstein?
Mark Epstein is Jeffrey’s younger brother.
Born and raised in New York, the 71-year-old property developer and former artist was involved with various real estate projects and had ties to Jeffrey’s investment company.
In 2005, Epstein Jr. ventured into the world of fashion, founding a model agency called Saint Model and Talent.
The Daily Beast also says he claimed to retire at 39 years old, and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity.
However, his financial dealings were also mired in mystery, with the Wall Street Journal questioning the source of his wealth.
When quizzed about refusals to tell reporters about his wealth, Epstein told the Daily Beast: “Since the president of the USA won’t divulge his business info, and there are many more compelling reasons for him to do so, and since I have not been accused of wrongdoing by any government agency, I see no reason why I or any other American should either.”
What has he said about his brother’s crimes?
Mark has maintained he didn’t know much about his brother’s crimes, as they hadn’t seen each other for many years.
Mark told CNN he only found out about Jeffrey’s troubles around 2006, when Jeffrey appeared to admit to his brother he was involved with girls who were “too young.”
In other interviews, Mark said: "He was just having a good time. Jeffrey liked to have a good time,.”
When Jeffrey died in 2019, his brother Mark was quick to question the circumstances surrounding his death.
He said: “I would like a full investigation of his death. If you look at all the evidence, including the autopsy, the photographs of his body, the bullshit DOJ report that is filled with inaccuracies, you would never come up with the conclusion that this was a suicide – but based on what?”
Speaking to CNN about Trump and Jeffrey’s friendship, Mark also recently said: “I know that they were good friends, and I witnessed it msyelf.” He also accused the White House of lying, adding that Trump had been in Epstein’s office on multiple occasions.
Trump has not been accused of any wrongdoing and has denied having any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.
