These are exciting times to be a Leeds United supporter.
After 16 years out of the top-flight of English football, the Whites finally sealed their long-awaited return to the Premier League last month as they clinched the Championship title, just over 12 months on from suffering play-off agony at the hands of Derby County.
Though it is a tremendous achievement for the club, they cannot afford to take their eye off the ball for too long, with the start of the 2020/21 campaign just over a month away.
Already, the club are actively looking to bolster head coach Marcelo Bielsa's squad, with the Whites recognising that the step up means new talent will be required.
Though the transfer window is only a little over a week old, a plethora of names have already been linked with moves to Elland Road, including former loanee Ben White, Odsonne Edouard of Celtic, Wigan Athletic youngster Joe Gelhardt and even Uruguay international Edinson Cavani.
Over the last few days, though, another name has started to come to the surface in the shape of Feyenoord defender Marcos Senesi.
Leeds will be actively looking for a centre-back this summer following White's return to Brighton & Hove Albion, though being able to re-sign the centre-back, who was nothing short of outstanding during the 2019/20 campaign, could be a tall order, with White attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool amongst others.
And with that in mind, Leeds, according to reports, are exploring options elsewhere, with Argentinian defender Senesi now being linked with a summer switch to West Yorkshire.
But who is the defender and why would Leeds be paying close attention to him? Here, LeedsLive has taken a close look at Senesi and everything you need to know about him.
Who is Marcos Senesi?
Senesi is a 23-year-old Argentinian centre-back that is currently contracted to Dutch giants Feyenoord.
Born in Concordia, Argentina, Senesi started his career with Argentinian top-flight outfit San Lorenzo, spending the grand total of 10 years at the club.
What has he done so far?
As outlined above, centre-back Senesi started his career with San Lorenzo back in 2009, spending seven years making his way up through the youth ranks, before being promoted to the first-team squad in 2016 at the age of 19.
He made his debut for San Lorenzo on September 25, 2016, against Club Atletico Patronato.
After making 69 appearances for San Lorenzo in just under three years, Dutch outfit Feyenoord caught wind of his qualities and signed him on a four-year deal for for a fee understood to be around £6.3million.
In his debut season for Feyenoord, Senesi made 25 appearances in all competitions, including three starts in the Uefa Europa League.
In Eredivisie, Senesi, who has even been linked with Barcelona and Lazio in the past, made 16 appearances, chipping in with one goal from centre-back.
Why would Leeds want him?
As outlined above, following White's return to Brighton, as well as Gaetano Berardi being poised for a lengthy stint on the sidelines with a serious injury, Leeds are short on numbers in the centre-back position, with only Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk and Oliver Casey being the only centre-backs currently within the first-team squad.
With both Struijk and Casey lacking experience at first-team level, Bielsa's need to add reinforcements to the centre-back position is clear.
Senesi, of course, is from Argentina, meaning there is a very good chance Bielsa knows a lot about him, which means he could be able to bring the very best out of the 23-year-old.
