Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Sunderland teenager Logan Pye, according to reports.
And that would be a blow to Arsenal, who were set to make a move for the wonderkid.
The Sun claimed earlier in the season that the Gunners, under the boss Unai Emery, were looking to make a January move for the defender in order to get his services ahead of the Red Devils, who have been monitoring the youngster for some time.
But the tables seem to have turned, with United now leading the race for the teenager's signature.
Pye is causing a lot of interest, but who is the defender, and what would he bring to the Premier League?
Take a look below for all the information that you need about the teenager.
Who is Logan Pye?
Pye is a 16-year-old left-back who plays his football for Sunderland.
He has spent his entire youth career with the Black Cats, making his U18s debut in February 2019, he has gone onto play a further 12 times in the U18 Premier League, scoring once and providing one assist too.
Pye is an England U16 international, making his debut against Turkey in August 2018.
The full-back can also operate in the central defensive areas.
How has he performed recently?
As previously mentioned, the 16-year-old has broke into Sunderland's U18 set up in 2019 as a 15-year-old.
Because of his tender years, he is still some way off making a first team debut at his hometown club, but he is highly thought of at the Stadium of Light.
Who else is interested?
Manchester United were heavily linked with a summer move for the teenager, and were said to be thinking of putting in a bid in the region of £500,00.
The player's age could have been a stumbling block for a summer move, but he turned 16 in October, which means he is old enough to join the Gunners or Manchester United.
And United are ready to make another move for the teenager this month, with reports in 90min.com saying a deal is close.
How much will he cost?
As he has not made his first team debut and is unlikely to come in as a first team player, Pye wouldn't cost too much to take to the Emirates Stadium.
A fee in the region of £500,000 plus add ons was talked about when Manchester United showed a summer interest in the youngster. However, Sunderland would be reluctant to lose one of their players with so much potential, meaning they could hold out for a bigger fee with the hope of starting a bidding war.
