Who is Lewis Ellis in The Apprentice 2019?

Hoping to impress Lord Sugar in this year's series of The Apprentice is digital marketing project manager Lewis Ellis.

The 28-year-old contestant from Lancashire is serious about business but always up for a laugh.

Lewis is also a Youtube prankster and you might have witnessed some of his most mischievous moments first-hand.

Remember when a goggled man in trunks jumped into the food court pool at the Trafford Centre?

That was Lewis.

And speaking on his playful nature, Lewis said: "I think I'm the boy that's growing up but doesn't want to.

"I used to say 'Peter Pan syndrome' expect the fact that I'm not worried about growing up, I just don't want to lose the inner-child."

Unlike some of his fellow contestants, Lewis took a different approach to get to where he is today.

He said: "I didn't see myself going through education.

"I didn't see myself going the same way as everyone else.

"I just wanted to escape so I went to work abroad - I've worked 11 seasons as a holiday rep."

Lewis is a self-proclaimed "maverick" who struggles to hide his feelings behind his facial expressions and doesn't like to follow the rules.

He thinks he'll have the Marmite effect on other contestants and added "People either love me and love my jokes and love everything about me or they absolutely hate me, despise me and do not want to talk to me."

But he is determined to get far in the competition: "I might not be the smartest guy in the room, but I'll out work you.

The Apprentice 2019 candidates

"Nine times out of ten, hard work beats talent - until you meet a talented hard working guy and then you're screwed!"

The Apprentice has returned for a 15th series with a fresh new batch of ambitious entrepreneurs.

Contestants will take on 12 tough tasks for their chance to become Lord Sugar's business partner and win the £250,000 investment.

In the series opener, we will also see contestants take on a challenge in South Africa.

The Apprentice 2019 stars on Wednesday, October 2 at 9pm on BBC One.
