Mathieu van der Poel won a breathless and aggressive second stage at the 2025 Tour de France, after beating the GC favourites in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
The Alpecin-Deceuninck rider was able to stay the the likes of Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) and Jonas Vignegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) on the two final, punchy climbs before leading them out and out-sprinting them on the uphill finish.
The win puts the Dutch man into the overall leader's yellow jersey, with the two GC favourites close behind.
