Who is Krishna Mohan? Former IFS officer appointed interim general secretary of Ayodhya Ram Temple Trust

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed Krishna Mohan as its interim general secretary during a key meeting held at the Ram temple premises in Ayodhya on Monday. The appointment comes at a time when the Trust is facing scrutiny over the donation scam.

Soon after taking charge, Krishna Mohan said restoring public confidence in the Trust would be his immediate priority. He acknowledged that recent events had hurt devotees' sentiments and affected the institution's reputation.

He said that anyone found responsible for wrongdoing should face action through due legal process. "My top priority will be to ensure that those found guilty receive the punishment they deserve through a fair and lawful process. We will strongly pursue justice," he said.

Krishna Mohan also admitted that weaknesses in the Trust's administrative and management systems had been exploited. He said these shortcomings would be identified and corrected to prevent similar issues in the future.

"The atmosphere created by the controversy has damaged the Trust's image and led to mistrust among people. Along with the trustees, we will take every necessary step to restore public confidence," he said.

Addressing concerns over donations made by devotees, he assured that all contributions would be used strictly for the objectives laid down by the Trust. He also promised greater transparency in financial and administrative decisions, while clarifying that certain details could only be disclosed after ongoing processes were completed.

Krishna Mohan urged trustees, devotees and the public to support the Trust's efforts to rebuild credibility. He also appealed to the media to rely on verified information and contact authorised representatives for official updates.

Who is Krishna Mohan?

Krishna Mohan, 73, is a retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer and a permanent trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. A native of Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh, he currently resides in Hardoi and is involved in social service activities after retiring from government service.

He completed his graduation from Lucknow University and began his career in the Atomic Energy Department before joining the Indian Forest Service. During his IFS career, he served in the Maharashtra cadre, where he held several senior administrative positions before retirement.

Krishna Mohan became a trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in September 2025, succeeding the late Kameshwar Chaupal. Since then, he has played an active role in the Trust's administrative work and was recently given the additional responsibility of interim general secretary.

Originally from Chandrapur village in Hardoi's Shahabad Assembly constituency, Krishna Mohan was inducted into the Trust through a unanimous decision of its members. In his new role, he has said his focus will be on improving governance, strengthening internal systems and ensuring that any administrative lapses are addressed through transparent and accountable processes.
