Who is Kaye Adams on BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2022?

BBC's hit competitive dancing show has returned as TV viewers pile in to see who will become champion this year.

Among those taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing competition is Scottish television presenter Kaye Adams.

The 59-year-old is known for taking part in ITV's discussion show Loose Women - previously anchoring the show from 1999 to 2006 before joining again in 2013. She was also a regular panellist on Channel 5's daily morning show The Wright Stuff from 2007 until 2012.

Kaye is in a relationship with her long-term partner, tennis coach Ian Campbell. The couple have two daughters and live together in Glasgow.

Speaking about her odds of winning the competition, Kaye admitted her odds of winning are quite slim. She told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "I have never danced before. This is a huge leap in the dark.

"I will go out of the competition at whatever stage and that is fine. There is no room on my mantelpiece for the Glitterball."

Despite her reservations, Kaye still seems to be excited for the competition. She said: "I said I wanted to make the last year of my fifties memorable and I can’t think of a better way of doing it than showing the world my two left feet. Pray for me!"

On Loose Women, where she announced her participation, she added: "Actually it’s quite funny because I’m terrified, I’m absolutely terrified. As Nadia [Sawalha] very kindly says, as a supportive friend does - 'Let’s face it, you can’t dance', which is true. It’s true!

"It’ll be a journey. I’ll be honest with you, I can think of a million reasons not to do this and when these gorgeous dancers came on, I nearly exited from both ends of my body, honestly.

"But I thought, 'Am I going to be thinking at the end of September, I wish I’d done this?' I’m 59, 60 at the end of this year and I was like, 'Well, why not?'"

The celebrities taking part in Strictly this year are Ellie Simmonds, Ellie Taylor, Fleur East, Hamza Yassin, Helen Skelton, James Bye, Jayde Adams, Kaye Adams, Kym Marsh, Matt Goss, Molly Rainford, Richie Anderson, Tony Adams, Tyler West and Will Mellor.

They will be watched and scored by Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and head judge Shirley Ballas.

Strictly Come Dancing launches at 7pm on Friday, September 23, on BBC One before the first live show airs Saturday, September 24, at 6.45pm. The show had been due to launch on Saturday 17 September but was put back six days following the death of the Queen
