Who is Katie Taylor's opponent? All you need to know about Jennifer Han

Jennifer Han stands in Katie Taylor's way this Saturday as the two will come face to face in Leeds where Taylor will defend her lightweight belts.

The challenger flies under the radar in the world of boxing when compared to the decorated Taylor, so here is everything you need to know about her.

Han hails from El Paso, Texas. She has fought 25 times as a pro, with a record of 17 wins, three losses, one draw and three no contests.

Interestingly, Han has only fought outside of her native America on four occasions; three times in Mexico, and once in South Korea.

Han made her professional debut back in 2009, starting out with a loss to Melissa St. Vil in a fight in New Mexico.

In April 2015, Han was scheduled to fight Helen Joseph for the vacant IBF female featherweight title. Joseph, however, could not obtain a US visa and was forced to withdraw. Fatuma Zarika stepped in in her place and Han ran out the winner via unanimous decision.

With the IBF female Intercontinental featherweight title secured, her next step was a crack at becoming a world champion in a rescheduled fight against Joseph.

A hometown fight in El Paso saw Han emerge victorious - again by unanimous decision - to become the IBF world title holder and the first world champion boxer from El Paso.

Han successfully defended her title four times, the final defence coming in a unanimous decision victory over Lizbeth Crespo in February 2018.

She then took two years away from boxing to give birth to her child in May 2019.

Han returned to the sport in February 2020 with a unanimous decision victory over Jeri Sitzes in a non-title bout.

Having relinquished her title in July 2020, she then moved up to the lightweight division after giving birth to her second child earlier this year.

Her fight against Taylor will see her attempt to steal a multitude of titles off the Bray boxer, who is the current undisputed lightweight champion of the world.
