Who is Katie Chapman on Soccer Aid 2020?

Katie Chapman will be making a return to Soccer Aid, a year on since she was one of the first women to join the England side.

The 38-year-old former footballer joined the charity match in 2019 after, for the first time in its 13-year history, it allowed female players to join the game.

Katie is set to be back again on Sunday when the 2020 Soccer Aid match is finally played at Old Trafford after being pushed back from June due to the coronavirus pandemic.

She kickstarted her football career at ten years old when she joined leading women's club Millwall Lionesses.

Katie made her senior team debut at the age of 14 and was part of the team that won the 1997 FA Women's Premier League Cup and FA Women's Cup final.

After eight years with Millwall, she joined Fulham to become one the first full-time professional female players in England before joining Charlton Athletic then Arsenal Ladies

Katie ended her playing career at Chelsea Ladies in 2018 and was last a member of the England women's national team in 2016.

Back to Soccer Aid, the big game will return to Manchester after a year away at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge in 2019 on September 6.

The match will be broadcast live on ITV and sadly no fans will be allowed at the stadium.

The charity match raises money for Unicef, which helps to support the organisations vital work protecting children in the UK and globally.

This year the charity will also recognised the impact coronavirus is having around the world.

As a result, this year, every £1 donated is automatically trebled thanks to the UK Government and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance.
