Who is Jonah Hauer-King? The new Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid reboot has found its Prince Eric - and unfortunately, it's not Harry Styles.

Instead, Prince Eric will be played by relative newcomer Jonah Hauer-King, a 24-year-old British actor whose biggest role to date was in A Dog's Way Home.

Iconic mermaid Ariel will be played by Beyonce protege Halle Bailey, who's in the group Chloe X Halle with her sister. Melissa McCarthy is set to play the evil Ursula, Javier Bardem is King Triton and Hamilton star Daveed Diggs will portray sidekick Sebastian. According to Deadline, Awkwafina will be Scuttle and Jacob Tremblay is Flounder.

The upcoming film is going to have songs from the 1989 classic film as well as new music created by the original composer Alan Menken alongside Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

If you're curious who exactly the new prince is - and whether or not he has the luscious locks necessary to tackle the role - here's everything to know about up and comer Hauer-King.

What TV shows and movies did Jonah Hauer-King star in?

According to IMDB, Hauer-King starred in the TV miniseries Little Women (not to be confused with the upcoming Timothee Chalamet masterpiece) as leading man Laurie, alongside Maya Hawke and Kathryn Newton.

He also appeared in A Dog's Way Home, where he raved about his co-star - Shelby, the rescue dog playing the movie's true star, Bella.

“I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but she’s kind of the dream dog. She’s kind, loving, and warm. It was fascinating to learn how the trainers work with her — but more than anything else, it was a joy," he said.

Where did Jonah Hauer-King grow up?

If he ends up becoming a superstar - which is likely - he'll feel right at home in Hollywood.
