In addition to targeting a striker and a midfielder this summer, Arsenal are also looking to strengthen at right-back as they attempt to provide healthy competition for Takehiro Tomiyasu.
The Gunners are looking at the South American market for potential new signings and are monitoring Peruvian right-back Jhilmar Lora among others in the region, football.london understands.
21-year-old Lora has been described by Peruvian football manager Roberto Mosquera as "an excellent and interesting player", after his time with the Peru national team.
As you may not know much about him, football.london has taken a brief look at his career so far.
Academy career
A lifelong supporter of Sporting Cristal, Lora joined the Lima club when he was just 11.
He spent eight years as a junior between 2011 and 2019 and won five national titles with the club: the U17 Centennial Tournament, the 2016 Centennial Model Cup and the Torneo de Promoción y Reserva in 2016, 2018 and 2019.
He also won a further three small tournaments in 2018: summer, opening and closing.
First team rise
The Peruvian signed his first professional contract on August 7 2019 before making his debut as a 61st minute substitute against Melgar in the 2019-20 season.
He made four starting appearances in that season and ended up as a title winner with the club.
Lora has since established himself as a regular in the first team and Sporting Cristal extended his contract in January 2021 - which runs until the end of 2023 - as a result.

International career
Lora made his debut for Peru against Paraguay in the quarter-final of last year's Copa America, coming on as a 92nd minute substitute in what ended as a 3-3 draw.
Peru defeated Paraguay on penalties and Lora was once again introduced as a substitute in the semi-final loss to hosts Brazil. He also featured in the 3rd place play-off against Colombia as his nation finished fourth in the competition.
Lora has made a few appearances since the competition and even started a clash with Argentina in a World Cup qualifier in September.
