Who is Jamie Bowden? The Spurs youngster fans saw celebrating with Fernando Llorente at Man City

A number of Spurs fans will have noticed one of the club's talented academy stars celebrating with the rest of the team following their Champions League success against Man City on Wednesday evening.

It was a rollercoaster of emotions over the course of the 90 minutes for everyone connected with the Lilywhites as they made it through to set up a semi-final clash against Ajax.

Having managed to sneak through after Raheem Sterling's third goal was chalked off for offside in stoppage time, the team sprinted over to celebrate with the fans once the referee had blown the full-time whistle.

Spurs youngster Jamie Bowden was one of the players involved in the celebrations despite the fact he was not named in the 18-man squad by Mauricio Pochettino.

The academy ace had actually travelled with the squad up to Manchester on Tuesday and was involved in the team's opening training session at the Etihad.

However, amid a number of injury worries in midfield at present, Pochettino elected against including the 17-year-old and fellow academy star George Marsh on the bench.

Here's all the information you need to know about the player...

Who is he?

Bowden is a local lad who was brought up in Tottenham and joined the club at the age of six.

The talented player, who is also a Spurs fan, is a defensive midfielder but he is also capable of playing in central midfield and in the heart of defence.

The youngster is really well thought of at Spurs and he is extremely composed on the ball, capable of breaking up play and has a great range of passing in his locker.

How has he done this season?

Having impressed last season for the club's U18 side and making two substitute appearances in the UEFA Youth League, Bowden was selected as 'Midfielder of the Tournament' at the Under-17 Borgaro Maggioni Righi tournament in Italy last Easter.

His form subsequently saw him make his debut for the senior side ahead of the season in the team's pre-season friendly away to Girona.

With the likes of Serge Aurier, Ben Davies, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min getting some minutes in ahead of the new campaign, Bowden came off the bench in the 83rd minute to make his debut for the first team in the defeat.

The midfielder has continued to impress in Premier League 2, the U18 Premier League and UEFA Youth League this season, while he also made four appearances for the team in the Football League Trophy in the first half of the campaign.

The night Mauricio Pochettino the dreamer made Spurs believe they can win the Champions League

Although he is naturally a deep-lying midfielder, he also produces up the other end of the pitch as he has so far registered four assists for the U18s this term and a further two in the UEFA Youth League.

Bowden has clearly done enough to catch Pochettino's eye given he travelled with the rest of the squad to Manchester.

What did he have to say after the Champions League success in Manchester?

The player was snapped celebrating with Fernando Llorente at the full-time whistle and he took to Twitter after the game following a truly memorable few days.

He tweeted: "What a night!!!! Unbelievable result and experience. #COYS."

Not a bad experience for a boyhood Spurs fan!

He could well be involved a bit more with the first team over the coming weeks given the lack of numbers in midfield at present.

With Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp two of the club's academy products to be given their debuts by Pochettino, Bowden may well be the next one to make his bow for the club later in 2019.
