Who is James Newman? The singer representing the UK in Eurovision 2020

James Newman is the singer and songwriter taking the UK to Eurovision 2020.

The older brother of musician John Newman has been announced as the UK entry.

His song entry My Last Breath was played on BBC Radio One and Two.

But who is James Newman and why is he representing the UK in Eurovision 2020?

James Newman is 29 years old.

The Brit award-winning songwriter has co-written for huge artists, including Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris and Rudimental.

He is also the older brother of John Newman, who is best known for his track Love Me Again.

James has now spoken out about the news, writing on Twitter: "Feeling very honoured and excited to announce I have been chosen to represent the UK in @Eurovision 2020!!

"I will be performing my new single 'My Last Breath', out today!"

John Newman has also reacted to the announcement and teased his own news.

Taking to Twitter he wrote: "Now the trending speculation of my relation to this year's Eurovision has been revealed, 'its a family affair' my brother @jamesnewmanUk is this year's entry with 'My Last Breath'.

"However I got something 'locked, loaded and ready'. March 5th......."

The Eurovision 2020 Song Contest will be on BBC on May 16 live from Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
