Who is in the Pieces of Her cast on Netflix alongside Toni Collette?

"What if the person you thought you knew best turns out to be someone you never knew at all?" asks the plot synopsis of Netflix's new thriller drama, one that has definitely got fans talking.

Pieces of Her is based on a 2018 best-selling novel by acclaimed author Karin Slaughter and is the first of her works to be adapted for TV. The show centres around two characters, a mother and her daughter, Laura Oliver ( Toni Collette ) and Andy Oliver (Bella Heathcote).

Everything Andy believes she knows about her mother is thrown into question after she engages with an active shooter at a local diner during Andy's 31st birthday celebrations. Footage of the incident goes viral, and the pair find themselves flung into a murderous chain of events that raises huge question marks about Laura's past.

Who is in the Pieces of Her cast?

While the cast is led by stellar performances from both Toni Collette and Bella Heathcote, there are other veteran stars of both the big and small screen in the show.

For instance, Joe Dempsie (Nick Harp) will be known to many as Chris Miles from the E4 series Skins and as Gendry Baratheon in Game of Thrones. At the same time, David Wenham (Jasper Queller) will be instantly recognisable as Faramir, from Peter Jackson's epic Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Other actors to make up the cast include:

What to expect from Pieces of Her?

If you haven't read Karin Slaughter's original novel, it is still possible to get a good handle on the show's plot, as Netflix has released a surprising amount of information in their synopsis, stating, "Andrea knows everything about her mother, Laura."

"She knows she's spent her whole life in the small beachside town of Belle Isle; she knows she's never wanted anything more than to live a quiet life as a pillar of the community; she knows she's never kept a secret in her life. Because we all know our mothers, don't we?"

"But all that changes when a trip to the mall explodes into violence and Andrea suddenly sees a completely different side to Laura. Because it turns out that before Laura was Laura, she was someone completely different."

"For nearly thirty years she's been hiding from her previous identity, lying low in the hope that no one would ever find her. But now she's been exposed, and nothing will ever be the same again."

"The police want answers and Laura's innocence is on the line, but she won't speak to anyone, including her own daughter. Andrea is on a desperate journey following the breadcrumb trail of her mother's past. And if she can't uncover the secrets hidden there, there may be no future for either one of them."
