Who is House Of The Dragon's Olivia Cooke and who does she play?

Olivia Cooke is among the stars of the new Game of Thrones prequel, House Of The Dragon.

The role is the latest in a number of TV roles for 28-year-old, who has previously appeared in Bates Motel, Vanity Fair and Slow Horses. On the big screen she has appeared in horror film Ouija and Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One.

Born Olivia Kate Cooke on 27 December 1993, the actor was born to sales representative Lindsay Wilde and retired police officer John Cooke.

As well as being an actor, Cooke has also supported the Save the Children campaign by appearing in Bulgari advertisements. House Of The Dragon on Monday, August 22.

Who is Olivia Cooke?

Olivia Cooke hails from Oldham in Greater Manchester. and started acting at a young age. She was eight when she attended an after-school drama programme in her hometown, the Oldham Theatre Workshop.

For secondary school, she attended Royton and Crompton Academy. She continued to develop her acting talent as she studied drama at Oldham Sixth Form College.

By this time she already had a local agent, who helped her get roles in commercials. While in sixth form, she landed a role in the BBC drama mini-series Blackout.

Still a teenager, Olivia starred as Maria in a college production of West Side Story. Not long after this, she landed her first leading role for the Oldham Theatre Workshop in Prom: The Musical, which was a remake of Cinderella.

Her rise from there was relatively swift as she earned a main role in Bates Motel. She then expanded into film with roles in films including Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, The Limehouse Golem and Sound Of Metal.

Who does Olivia Cooke play in House Of The Dragon?

In House Of The Dragon, Olivia Cooke plays Alicent Hightower. In the show, Alicent arrived in the Targaryen court at the age of 15 and is the daughter of Otto Hightower.

Olivia’s character in House Of The Dragon marries the king after the death of his first wife, giving birth to four children, including future king Aegon II. In the 10-part series, Cooke's character also plays a key part in the build-up to the war, as she tries to fight for her bloodline’s right to rule.
