Who is faster, Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane? Liverpool striker lifts the lid

There was nothing to choose between Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the goalscoring stakes last season as the Liverpool pair shared the Premier League Golden Boot (in a three-way tie with Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang) but just who has the edge when it comes to pace between the Reds speed merchants?

The Anfield duo are two of the most devastating wide strikers in world football right now and both are known for their fleet-footedness as well as finishing prowess but ultimately only one can be the quickest and working alongside them each day in training at Melwood, Rhian Brewster is convinced he knows the answer.

Although he was discussing the video game FIFA 20, the teenage striker reckons the virtual assessment reflects real life when it comes to his team-mates' respective speeds.

When asked in an interview with Soccer AM who is the fastest player at Liverpool , Brewster said: “It's going to be Sadio or Mo but I'm going to go Sadio.

“He's quick, not just from the FIFA stats but anyway, him and Mo are the quickest in the team.”

Brewster also threw his support behind Lionel Messi's decision to vote for Mane in the FIFA World Player of the Year award.

He said: “Personally I think he's one of the best wingers in the world. Messi is on a different planet but I'm not surprised that he voted for Sadio.”

Brewster also believes that the man he plays understudy to in the Liverpool side, Roberto Firmino , is another world-class talent.

He said: “He's easily top three (among the world's best centre-forwards). As a striker he's up there with the best.

“He's an amazing player and so under-rated in the football industry. Only lately has he been regarded as one of the best at what he does.

“He's not a typical number 9. He's his own 9, he made it himself. He comes in, goes high, he goes over the place and that's what I think helps the team a lot.”

However, when it comes to gaming, Brewster declared himself to be the champion in Liverpool's squad, insisting that none of his team-mates can match his skills on FIFA – even a potential contender to his throne, Trent Alexander-Arnold .

Asked if he was good at playing the game, Brewster said: “Best on the team! I've already challenged Trent and beaten him.

“I've beaten him already, if he wants it again you know where I am.

“He was scared to add me online as well. He only recently added me again. It took him about a week to add me but he actually added me again the other day. I'm coming for you again.”
