Who is Dublin footballer Bernard Brogan's wife Keira Doyle, how long have they been together, and have they got any kids?

GAA legend Bernard Brogan has retired after a glittering 15 years serving the Boys in Blue.

The 35-year-old Plunketts man will go down in history as one of the best ever having picked up seven All-Irelands, four All-Stars, and one Footballer of the Year Award.

It's been a week of reflecting for Dublin fans, and the idea of him not being there is alien to many of the younger Blues.

So what does Bernard do outside of football? And who are his closest and dearest?

Here's everything you need to know.

What's his day job?

Bernard works as an accountant, and co-owns the luxury Pillo Hotel in Ashbourne, Co Meath with his brother Alan.

The siblings forked out €8m for the four-star, 148-bedroom hotel in 2016.

Is he married?

The talented player tied the knot with PR guru Keira Doyle in Kilkenny’s Mount Juliet resort in December 2016, 11 months after popping the question in Turkey.

They said "I do" in front of 200 guests comprising close family, friends and some of Bernard's Dublin teammates including Stephen Cluxton, Philly McMahon and Jason Sherlock.

Ahead of the big day, he told RSVP Magazine: "A few of the lads will be there, but I would love to bring everyone to the wedding. I have been on the Dublin team for ten years and I have played with almost 80 or 90 players over that time.

"Jim Gavin and a couple of the management team will be there. The wedding is about having a bit of craic and celebrating the day."

Kiera wowed in a white chiffon dress and veil, wrapping up warm in a fur jacket, while the bridesmaids wore bottle green jumpsuits.

Bernard previously opened up about his relationship with Keira, putting their success down to their shared love of sport.

"She's a sport-mad girl," he told Independent.ie. "She was a great basketball player and swimmer and loves the GAA and rugby, so she loves the journey."

"We go to some great matches and have great craic."

He also paid a sweet tribute to her when he announced his retirement this week.

"To my wife Keira, for all of your support, patience and counsel over the years; I know we have missed so many special moments and you have carried the load to facilitate endless nights of training and commitments I made on the part of us both," he wrote on Instagram.

"Our beautiful boys and I are so lucky to have you and I cannot thank you enough for the loyalty and commitment to us as a family, and to me and my Dublin dream."

Does he have kids?

Bernard and Keira welcomed twin baby boys in July 2018.

The doting dad has been pictured with them regularly - including an iconic shot on the pitch at Croke Park last year, where he held a baby in each hand.

He announced Keira was expecting by sharing a picture of them together, showing her blossoming baby bump.

"Here’s to summer 2018," he said.
