Who is Davide Ancelotti? A look at Rangers-linked manager

Davide Ancelotti is reportedly under consideration to become the new manager of Rangers.

The Ibrox club's search for a permanent replacement for Philippe Clement may well be edging towards a conclusion but what do we know about Ancelotti?

Who is Davide Ancelotti?

Davide Ancelotti is a 35-year-old football coach. 

He has worked at some high-profile clubs despite being at a relatively early stage of his career.

Ancelotti is the son of football legend Carlo Ancelotti, who will join the Brazil national team at the end of the season.

He has a degree in sports science and is fluent in five languages – Italian, English, German, French and Spanish.

What is Davide Ancelotti's current job?

He currently works as an assistant coach of Real Madrid.

Ancelotti has worked with the global footballing giants since 2021, working under his father.

Who has Davide Ancelotti worked for?

Ancelotti has worked as an assistant coach alongside his dad for several years and numerous clubs. 

He spent time at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and currently at Real Madrid.

Those coaching responsibilities came after he acquired his UEFA A License in 2016.

Before that, he worked as a fitness coach, including for Paris Saint-Germain, where, you guessed it, he worked for his dad.

What has Davide Ancelotti won?

Ancelotti has helped mastermind four Champions League triumphs for Los Blancos during his coaching career. 

He has also tasted silverware success with three La Liga titles and two Copa Del Rey trophies.

Did Davide Ancelotti play football?

The answer is yes... but not really.

He spent his youth career in AC Milan's esteemed academy between 2007 and 2009.

He failed to make the grade at the San Siro before moving to ASDC Borgomanero on loan, and subsequently, on a permanent basis. 

He took the tough decision to retire from football aged only 20 in 2009 to focus on a career in coaching.

What has been said about Davide Ancelotti?

Mason Holgate, previously a defender for Everton, described Ancelotti as "Unbelievable."

He added: " One of the best I have worked with... calm and easy to speak to. 

"You can speak to him about many things, not just football. 

"He is a really good coach and owns what he is talking about."

His dad, Carlo, has been credited as saying: "Davide is a competent, disciplined, professional and very calm assistant coach.

"He's here because he's a good professional, not because he is my son."

Comment from Real Madrid first team players include: "He talks a lot with us, he is very active. We respect him a lot."

Another added: "As he is younger, he is the one who talks more with us and more in a joking tone, creating a very good atmosphere.

"He's from the new generation, like some of us."
