Conservative MP David Amess was a member of parliament between 1983 and 2021. Beyond his political career, the Tory MP was known for his infamous appearance on parody show Brass Eye.
He was a vocal Eurosceptic for many years and heavily supported Brexit in the 2016 EU referendum.
The MP has was a big supporter of the Leave Means Leave, a pro-Brexit campaign.
In March of 2021 he spoke about knife crime in parliament, saying:"Mr Luke Bellfield, who was aged just 18, was stabbed to death just a few miles from his family home.
"What more does my Right Honourable Friend think that the police, society and Parliament can do to make sure that there never will in the future be such senseless murders again?"

Who was David Amess?

Sir David Amess born in March 1952 was been a Member of Parliament since 1983.
He was originally the member for Basildon, before assuming office in his constituency of Southend West in 1997.
Amess was married to his wife Julia and he had one son and four daughters - one of which, Katie Amess - is a famous actress who has starred in Captain America
David Amess Brass Eye
He was known for featuring in the drugs episode of the British television series Brass Eye.
Brass Eye was Channel 4 show that parodied current affairs news programme. It invented a fictitious drug by the name 'Cake'. Amess asked a question about the supposed drug in Parliament — leaving many fans of the show in bits.
Amess was also known for his strong support of the UK leaving the European Union. In 2020, a Twitter post of his was questioned after he posted it in celebration of the UK leaving the EU.
He said: "Whilst Margaret didn’t live long enough to see this day, I am sure that she is rejoicing in heaven. At last we 'got Brexit done’!"
The post also included a picture of a life-size cut-out of Margaret Thatcher.
