American rapper Kanye West, now known professionally as Ye, has announced he will be releasing his twelfth solo studio album “Cuck”.
Details around the forthcoming album, including its release date, are sparse, but the rapper has confirmed he did not write any of the songs on the album.
In fact, the person behind the controversial and highly offensive lyrics supposedly belong to Dave Blunts.
In a now deleted video on X, Blunts said he had written every song on the album. Ye later confirmed the claim and credited Blunts with authorship.

Ye said in a reply to the video on X: “This is true. We would talk for hours. Then he’d write three songs in a day.”
Cuck, formerly named WW3, is not the first album Blunts has had a hand in. So, who is this 23-year old rapper from Utah? And how did he come to ghostwrite Ye’s new album?
Who is Dave Blunts?
Born Davion Blessing, but known professionally as Dave Blunts, the Utah-born rapper and singer has been recording and releasing music on social media since 2018.

During a chat with No Jumper, the rapper revealed his moniker was a random choice after his Facebook handles kept getting banned.
After almost five years with little to no success and attempting to quit music, he gained popularity on TikTok after releasing his single, named “The Cup”. The song received support from rapper Lil Yachty.
Shortly after, Blunts signed with LA-based record label Listen to the Kids and created his first studio album, named Well Dude Here’s My Thing.
How did he become famous?
Blunts rose to prominence after a video of his performance at a memorial concert for late rapper Juice Wrld went viral.
The video went viral because Blunts was using an oxygen tank during his performance, and because he publicly criticized rapper Snoop Dogg, who had insulted Blunts on social media.
In the post, Snoop Dogg appeared to criticize Blunts’ weight. Blunts has suffered with obesity, with his oxygen tank prompting concern for his health. The rapper has previously said he weighs around 270kg and has suffered heart failure.
In December 2024, Blunts confirmed he was writing his third studio album, titled Exactly So Shut Up. The name was later changed to You Can’t Say That and was released last month.
It is not clear how Blunts met West or what prompted the collaboration. However, Blunts has said the pair have many mutual friends.
What is Dave Blunts doing now?
Blunts currently has around 500,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and has announced plans to go on tour. The tour began in mid-April in Phoenix, Arizona, and will end on May 23, 2025, in Santa Ana, California.
The rapper is also making attempts to improve his health after several bouts of illness that have seen him hospitalized.
