Who is Connor Stanley? Manchester United youngster training with first team

Manchester United included youngster Connor Stanley in their training squad before jetting out to Belgium for a Europa League tie versus Club Brugge.

The 18-year-old took part in the session at Carrington alongside the likes of Anthony Martial, Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo.

But who is Stanley, how much experience does he have and what can United fans expect from him in the future?

We profile the United youngster here:

Basic information

Connor Stanley is an 18-year-old right winger and a second year scholar in the United academy. He turns 19 in December this year.

He joined the club from Birmingham City in August 2018, at the same time that United signed Reece Devine, and that season Stanley made a breakthrough into Neil Ryan's Under-18s side at Old Trafford.

He's described as a "skilful winger" who "provides bundles of energy".

Experience

Stanley made 11 appearances for the United Under-18s last season and has made a further five this season in the U18 Premier League, providing two assists in 364 minutes of action.

He's not yet made the step up to Under-23s in a competitive game, but made his FA Youth Cup debut — and his first appearance at Old Trafford — in the recent 1-0 fifth round victory over Leeds United, replacing fellow midfielder Charlie Wellens in the 80th minute. He also picked up a 93rd minute booking in that game for a late challenge. He was an unused sub in the previous round's win over Norwich at Carrow Road.

Stanley did travel on the United Under-23s trip in Portugal, which took place when the first team were in Marbella on a winter break training camp. He appeared as a substitute for Neil Wood's side in a 2-1 friendly defeat to Benfica on that trip.
