Who is Chris Allerton? Celebrated photographer trusted with Archie's christening

With much of Archie's christening today being kept tightly under wraps the world is waiting for the official photographs of the special day.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to keep the ceremony for their two-month-old son private.

But personal photographer Chris Allerton is among the 25 guests for the intimate baptism.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton," a statement from Buckingham Palace read.

And the photographer was also chosen to take their personal wedding photos.

On his official website, Mr Allerton says that he got his first roll of film at the age of eight and 'has been hooked on photography since'.

After leaving the British Army in 2001 he worked in Notting Hill to master his job.

He now travels all over the world on commissions and 'specialises in location Portrait, Fashion and Private Event photography'.

One of his pictures from the Duke and Duchess's wedding was chosen for their official Christmas card.

He wrote on his Instagram :  “It was a great honour to be asked to photograph The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding day in May.

"I am delighted that Their Royal Highnesses chose this photograph for their Christmas card.”

Mr Allerton was also behind the lens for the behind-the-scenes shot of Archie with the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and Doria Ragland in May.

Little Archie, who was born at 5.26am on May 6, is two months old today.

The couple have decided against St George's Chapel, which is where they married in May last year and the venue for Harry's christening in 1984.

Instead, it will be held in the Queen's Private Chapel.

It's a small venue believed to only hold about 30 people.

Two-month-old Archie is seventh in line to the throne and not an HRH.
