Who is Chelcee Grimes in Soccer Aid 2022 as London Stadium prepares to host charity match?

Chelcee Grimes is set to appear at her third successive Soccer Aid after making her debut in the 2020 event. The annual charity football match will take place at West Ham United's London Stadium on June 12 and will be broadcast live on ITV.

England will take on a World XI in a bid to be crowned this year’s champions with both sides being comprised of celebrities and former players. And Chelcee will line-up alongside the likes of Usain Bolt and Martin Compston against the Three Lions.

The 30-year-old singer, who hails from Liverpool, has many strings to her bow, including football. Her first club was Liverpool Ladies, whom she started playing for at the age of 10, she also went on to play for Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Tranmere Rovers.

Grimes is currently playing for Merseyrail Ladies whilst she focuses on her musical career, she’s also the presenter of Match of the Day spin-off MOTDx on BBC Two. In addition to that the Merseyside native is a successful songwriter having written tunes for an array of pop icons including Kylie Minogue, Kesha and Dua Lipa.

Grimes was part of the World XI side that triumphed 3-0 at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium last time out. The win meant that both sides have now won the match on five separate occasions, adding an extra spice going into this year’s event. Since its inception in 2006 Soccer Aid has raised over £60million for children’s charity UNICEF.
