Who is Cesar Gelabert? The Real Madrid wonderkid interesting Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund

The summer transfer window is not too far away as teams prepare to strengthen their squads ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Arsenal have already been linked with a number of players as Mikel Arteta looks to put his own stamp on the team.

Defenders Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares arrived on loan from Flamengo and Southampton during the January window and Arteta is likely to again add to his squad when the window re-opens.

One of the names most recently linked with the Gunners is Real Madrid youngster Cesar Gilbert, with Arsenal one of a number of teams said to be watching the teenager closely.

But who is Gelabert? Take a look below to find out.

Who is Gelabert?

Cesar Gelabert is a 19-year-old attacking midfielder who plays for Spanish giants Real Madrid. The teenager has come up through the youth side at the club after joining from Hercules Alican in 2015.

He currently plays for Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s reserve team, who ply their trade in Segunda Division B Group 1.

How has he performed this season?

Gelabert has made 13 appearances so far this season, scoring one goal.

He has played in a variety of positions over the campaign including attacking midfield, right wing and left wing. He has also played in the centre-forward position.

Who else is interested?

According to as, Arsenal are one of three European clubs keeping an eye on the player with Arteta watching him play for Real Madrid’s youth side against Chelsea and Tottenham.

The report claims that French side Lyon have seen a bid rejected by Real Madrid as they have big hopes for the player.

Borussia Dortmund are the third club who have been linked with the midfielder.

Contract situation

Gelabert’s contract at the Bernabeu has just over one year remaining and he has not yet renewed his deal.

That has led to clubs showing an interest in the 19-year-old, although it is likely that Los Blancos will look to tie him down to a new contract in the near future.
