Who is Carl Frampton's wife? The touching story of the boxer's long relationship with wife Christine

Through the many ups and occasional downs of Carl Frampton's career, his wife Christine has firmly been by his side.

Christine, from Poleglass in west Belfast, met Frampton in Kelly's nightclub in Portrush when Carl was making a name for himself in the amateur ranks.

She has a criminology with criminal justice degree from Queen’s University.

The pair got married in a humanist ceremony at the Old Inn in Crawfordsburn in October 2013.

The couple have two young daughters, Carla and Rossa.

Frampton, a Protestant, has long been hailed for promoting peace and unity across the political and religious divide in Northern Ireland.

His marriage to Christine, a Catholic, and his pride in representing Ireland in the amateur ranks, has also contributed to him having fans from both Catholic and Protestant backgrounds at his fights.

Carl said in 2018 that he puts down his success in the ring to the support of his wife.

"I guess I’ve never given her enough credit for the support she has been to me right back from amateur days until now," he said.

"Losing my world featherweight title to Leo Santa Cruz hit me hard, harder than most could understand, and I have to give enormous credit to my wife Christine for getting me through some tough, dark days."
