Goes undrafted

Phillips signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent on May 11, 2018. He was waived on Sept.1 and was signed to the practice squad the next day. He was promoted to the active roster on Oct. 18, 2018. He was waived on Nov. 5, and was re-signed to the practice squad. He signed a reserve/future contract with the Bills on Dec. 31, 2018. XFL debut

In the Roughnecks’ first game against the Los Angeles Wildcats, Phillips helped score a 50-yard touchdown, giving the Roughnecks their first points and helping the team win a 37–17 victory against the Wildcats.
Week 2

In Week 2 against the St. Louis BattleHawks, Phillips caught seven balls for 54 yards and scored three touchdowns, winning the XFL’s Star of the Week. Phillips caught eight passes for 63 yards and three touchdowns in the Roughnecks’ 28-24 victory over the St. Louis BattleHawks.

Phillips caught an 84-yard TD pass from P.J. Walker in the Roughnecks’ game at Tampa Bay in the first half. After the break, he added a 24-yard TD reception over the middle.
