Who is Caelan Doris? Everything you need to know about the Ireland and Leinster star

Ireland prospect Caelan Doris looks set to be handed his Ireland debut today as new coach Andy Farrell names his first XV as head coach ahead of the Six Nations campaign.

Ireland host Scotland on Saturday, and although Farrell isn't expected to make wholesale changes - the young star is heavily fancied to get the nod and make his bow in green.

Here's everything you need to know about Caelan Doris:

How old is he?

Doris is 21 years-old, and turns 22 on April 2.

Where is he from?

Ballina, Mayo.

What position does he play?

Doris can play almost anywhere in the back-row.

He's usually deployed at number eight, but is also comfortable playing as a flanker.

Which province does he play for?

Doris came through the Leinster academy, and has made 29 appearances for the Pro14 champions - several of which have come this season as he made his breakthrough into the province's first team.

Has he played for Ireland before?

Doris has never been involved with the Ireland senior side before.

But he has an extensive pedigree at under-20's level - captaining Ireland at the 2018 World Rugby U20 Championship.

Doris made 14 appearances for the Ireland U20 side between 2017 and 2018.
