Who is Britney's boyfriend Sam Asghari as he fights conservatorship and plans to marry star

Pop icon Britney Spears met Iranian fitness instructor Sam Asghari way before #FreeBritney was even a hashtag.

The cute couple found each other on the set of the singer's Slumber Party video in 2016 and have been inseparable ever since.

Sam, 27, was born in Tehran before emigrating to America with his father, when he was 12 years old.

He told Men's Health : "I had to leave my friends and family who I was very close with, and I knew I was moving away and never coming back."

As well as playing football in university and doing a stint at police academy Sam also dabbled in modelling and acting, including a commercial for Toyota and bit part in a Fifth Harmony video.

It was this foray into showbusiness that led him to Britney after the model was cast in her iconic Slumber Party video.

Recalling meeting the pint-sized singer for the first time Sam said she gave him "butterflies".

"She said, 'Hi, I'm Britney,' and I said, 'I'm sorry. What's your name again?'" he said. "I tried to be funny. I don't think anybody got it."

The two swapped phone numbers, went out for sushi, and the rest is history.

Sam is now a qualified personal trainer and runs Asghari Fitness in Los Angeles, regularly posting pictures of his taught physique on Instagram.

And it seems like his love of exercise is rubbing off on Britney who can often be seen hiking with her beau in the Hollywood hills.

The Lucky singer recently posted a pic of the pair looking happy and relaxed out walking jokingly captioning the post: "@SamAsghari looks like such a dad in these pics".

The couple also share workout videos in which they can be seen putting each other through their paces in a series of adorable shots.

"The exercises, I come up with them, but the videos are because of my better half. She's the video director," said Sam. "It's a very fun thing, and I look back at them and smile."

Unfortunately for Britney there hasn't been a lot to smile about in recent months as she's found herself in the middle of a media storm as she tries to revoke her conservatorship in which her father Jamie is responsible for many aspects of her life.

Sam has stuck by the star's side throughout and wore a 'Free Britney' t-shirt in her honour hours before her court appearance.

After her 20 minute appearance via video link to the court, Sam posted a photo of a lioness on his Instagram Story as he shared his thoughts on her performance.

After posting a pic of himself on Instagram, Sam was inundated with messages from her fans.

One wrote: "Your lioness did amazing today #freebritney"

Another added their thanks: "Thank you for supporting Brit"

A third replied to him: "Thank you, Sam. You're all she ever wanted and needed."

Sam has been praised for the role he has played in supporting the pop singer amid her conservatorship court case.

Speaking to People he said: "I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves."

Britney thanked her fans shortly after her latest court hearing on Wednesday and posted to Instagram using the hashtag FreeBritney.

The singer, 39, told a court that the way she has been treated is "f***ing cruelty" as she demanded her father be removed from the conservatorship.

Judge Brenda Penny granted her appeal asking for a new attorney after her court-appointed lawyer Samuel Ingham agreed to step down.

It means the star will now be represented by Hollywood lawyer Matthew Rosengart in the conservatorship battle.

And, taking to Instagram, the Toxic singer is seemingly in good spirits as she thanked her fans and said she felt "blessed" after her court hearing.

Sam echoed her thoughts saying: "I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together."

And it seems like the couple have a lot to look forward to.

Britney has spoken of wanting a family with her man and Sam told Men's Health: "She motivates me more than anyone. It's crazy how I can be humbled by a person like her.

"If I could be that humble when I'm that high in life, that would be the best thing.

I grew up with three sisters, and my personality is just to be a supportive person for my family and she's family. I'm always going to support her. She is another blessing that happened to me."

Referencing her smash-hit song Britney appears to be in agreement taking to Instagram to say: "Everyday he inspires me to be a better person and that makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world!!"

When asked if marriage was on the horizon Sam made his feelings clear telling Entertainment Tonight : "Absolutely. This is something that every couple should do.

That's the whole point of a relationship—we are a family. Trust me, if we do ever get married, everybody's going to know."
