Brigitte Macron is reportedly going to provide ‘scientific evidence’ to prove that she is a woman as a feud with Candace Owens continues.
According to the couple’s lawyer, the 72-year-old wife of French President Emmanuel Macron will submit the evidence as part of a defamation suit they launched against the right-wing American commentator.
It comes after Ms Owens said she would stake her "entire professional reputation" on a false claim that Ms Macron was born a man.
Speaking on the BBC's Fame Under Fire podcast, Macron’s lawyer Tom Clare said the ordeal had been “incredibly upsetting” but that Ms Macron is prepared to “set a record straight and stop this.”
"I don't want to suggest that it somehow has thrown him off his game,” Mr Clare said. “But just like anybody who is juggling a career and a family life as well, when your family is under attack, it wears on you. And he's not immune from that because he's the president of a country.”
He added that "expert testimony that will come out that will be scientific in nature."
During the podcast, Mr Clare was also asked if pictures of Brigitte when pregnant would be supplied, with the lead counsel saying this existed and would be presented in court as per rules and standards.
The lawyer also added: “If that unpleasantness and that discomfort that she has of opening herself up in that way is what it takes to set a record straight and stop this, she's 100% ready to meet that burden."
The couple had initially launched their suit against Ms Owens in July after the outspoken right-wing influencer repeated a false conspiracy that Ms Macron had been born male.
It stems from claims made in 2021 by two women who claimed on a YouTube video that questioned the French first lady’s history and gender.
