Who is Audrey's son Stephen Reid on Coronation Street and has he been on the cobbles before?

Coronation Street sees the return of Audrey Roberts' eldest child, son Stephen Reid, in its latest episode (June 24) and he'll be around for a while, even embarking on a romance on the cobbles. But who is Stephen, has he been in Corrie before and who is the actor who plays him?

In the new scenes featuring Stephen, he is reunited with the Platt family as an ambulance arrives for Audrey, who was last seen underneath a fallen motorbike at the barbers, and he is furious that his mother was left alone all night without anyone noticing. He later climbs into the ambulance with Audrey as they speed off to the hospital.

Who is Stephen Reid?

Stephen is the first child of Audrey Roberts who was forced to give him up after she became a mother as a teen back in 1957. Stephen moved to Canada with his adoptive parents and Audrey went on to have Gail and move to Coronation Street in the 1970s.

In 1996 Stephen returned from Canada to reunite with his biological mother and younger sister and while there he offered Nick an opportunity to move back to Canada with him. Then in 2007 he reappeared, had relocated to Italy where niece Sarah Platt relocated to with daughter Bethany.

He's now back for a third stint on the cobbles where he is concerned about his mother's ailing abilities and gets romantic with Elaine.
