Emmerdale star Asan N’Jie hit headlines after threatening Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas during a foul-mouthed bust-up at the TV Choice Awards last night.
But who is the actor and what happened during the awards ceremony brawl?
Who is Asan N’Jie?
Asan N’Jie is an actor with both TV and film credits to his name.
He currently stars as Ellis Chapman on the ITV soap Emmerdale and narrowly missed out on the award for Best Newcomer at Monday’s TV Choice Awards 2019.
His other major credits include roles in Ready Player One (2018), Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and Two (2018).
Asan’s other TV credits include Waterloo Road, Doctors, Holby City, Mount Pleasant and Casualty.
What happened at the TV Choice Awards?
ITV has launched an investigation after a brawl broke out between Emmerdale star Asan N’Jie and Hollyoaks’ Jamie Lomas.
The fight kicked off at around 11pm and escalated quickly.
Asan had to be pulled off Jamie by security, with the actor then thrown out of the Hilton Park Lane hotel in London’s upmarket Mayfair.
Asan was seen throwing punches at Jamie while celebrities including comedian Katherine Ryan were seen running out of the way.
Other celebs, including Chris Packham and Love Island’s Kem Cetinay, were seen looking on open-mouthed.
The Emmerdale star, who has been involved in a knife attack storyline in the soap, threatened to stab the Hollyoaks actor to death after launching into a furious tirade.
Asan, who is said to have appeared drunk, bellowed at the 44-year-old: “Do you think you are a f*****g big man? I’m going to f*****g kill you. I’m going to f*****g knife you.”
The fracas allegedly began when Asan made goading remarks at Kym Marsh's ex husband.
The pair had to be pulled apart by security twice, with Jamie’s Hollyoaks co-star Malique Thompson-Dwyer intervening to take him away from the dramatic situation.
Asan was escorted from the hotel by bodyguards around 15 minutes after security intervened, allegedly still shouting obscenities and threats at Jamie.
Jamie stayed until 2am drinking with Love Island's Amber Gill and Malique.
What has ITV said about the brawl?
The broadcaster has confirmed it has launched a probe into the incident.
A spokesman for ITV said: "We are extremely concerned to hear about an incident at last night's TV Choice Awards involving one of Emmerdale's cast.
"Obviously we will be investigating and talking to the actor concerned in due course."
